The study of photography is not only about the technical aspects of taking photographs. The technical side of photography helps to insure that your images have good composition and good information to work from. It is also important for photographers to think about what they are taking photographs of. This can range from simple family or hobby picture taking, working with the camera for purely business interests, or photography can be used to change the way we think about our world and human behavior. An example of a photographer who has been instrumental in showing us the moral problems of our world, is the renowed photographer James Nachwey. He is considered by his peers to be the best war photographer who has spent much of his life engaged in conflicts around the world. His photographs have informed us about the condition in our world that are difficult to accept. He documents the cruelty that humans impose upon one another and demands that we do something about a world that is full of injustice. Photographers such as Nachwey use photography as an instrument to investigate the human condition that require compassionate solutions.
