Center of Interest

example 1
example 2

The first diagram illustrates a static composition. There is little movement that is required of the viewer. The subject is centered and the center of interest is not dynamic.
The second illustration is a more dynamic illustration as it shifts the center of interest to one of the intersections on the rule of thirds grid. By doing so, it provides space for the interaction of secondary points on interest. This dynamic is called compositional movement and is central to the creation of dynamic compositions. The relationship of two points on interest provide the framework for a dialogue between two interest points and results in a picture that can support a narrative or the telling of a story between these two reference points.
