Rule of Thirds Example

This image is a great example of the rule of thirds. The composition is divided into thirds allowing the foreground to be the main focus and the rest of the image provides the opportunity for a story to develop. The characters in the foreground and the river in the background provide a relationship in terms distance and scale. We understand the relationship of the foreground and the background. The photographer is telling a story about vastness of the landscape and the relationship of the characters to that vastness.
